General Guidelines
There will be staff or staff support coverage in the Chalet overnight in the attached staff quarters.
When you arrive, use the main farm entrance. The address will be given to the person organizing your visit and she will share it with all drivers. Please keep the address confidential. As we need to be aware of your arrival, the first car arriving must stop next to the farmhouse and wait for a staffer to come out. She will then direct you to the Chalet and explain where to park. Other vehicles in your group may go directly to the Chalet when arriving. You will be given a quick tour of the Chalet. When leaving, you may use the main driveway or the Chalet driveway.
FOR ALL GROUPS, A STAFFER NEEDS TO CHECK YOU OUT BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Please call the staffer about 20 minutes prior to leaving and she will meet you in the Chalet. Staff cell numbers are in the kitchen drawer.
Please remove your shoes when entering the Chalet and put them in the coat closet. The entry area needs to be clear at all times.
Do not adjust the air conditioning or heat. If it needs adjusting, contact a staffer.
Do not open any windows if the air conditioning or furnace is running.
There are ceiling fans upstairs above the beds. There is a remote control and directions in each bedside table drawer.
Upstairs, beds on the north side (facing the open field) have medium-soft mattresses. Beds on the south side (facing the woods/animals) are a little firmer. The lower-level full bed is quite firm.
Blankets, extra sheets, and a fire extinguisher are in the upstairs closet by the bathroom.
Upstairs, a rope ladder is in a box under the bed to the right of the window for emergency evacuation.
Do not use the back door or go into the staff quarters from the kitchen unless you have permission.
When taking any liquid drinks out of the kitchen, please use the colored hot/cold mugs with lids, your own travel mug, or water bottles with caps to prevent spilling. The one exception is while eating at the dining room table, glasses without lids are acceptable.
We do not allow any burning candles. You may use electric or battery-operated candles.
If you would like to see the animals, please do not feed them or go into their pens. If you would like to interact with the animals, contact the Grounds Manager, Suzanne. Her phone number is in the kitchen drawer. The black and white electric cords on the fences are hot. Do not touch!
You may walk on all seven acres. The counseling shed (building with black shutters) has a bathroom, conference room, library, and prayer room. You may use that building if there isn’t a counseling session taking place. A sign will be on the front door indicating if it’s in use.
If walking on the roads surrounding the Farm, please wear bright colors. We have safety vests if needed in the front porch bench. If under the age of 18, an adult is required to go with on all walks off the property.
If you would like to have a bonfire, a staffer will start it. We use a smokeless fire pit.
Please lower the window blinds for privacy and safety in the evening.
The house should start to quiet down by 11:00pm. You can stay up and continue doing whatever you want…just use soft voices out of respect for the staffer.
All car doors need to be locked overnight.
Lock the front door and turn off the outside porch light when everyone is inside for the evening.
